Professor Robert “Bob” Byron Bird passed away on Nov. 13, 2020, at the age of 96, and February 2024 marked his 100th birthday.
Bob was born in Bryan, Texas, on February 5, 1924. In 1941 he attended the University of Maryland, with the intention of studying foreign languages, but under the influence of his father (a civil engineer) he changed his mind to take up chemical engineering instead.
